The Cardiac Health Check involves the following measures:

  • Blood pressure
  • Blood sugar levels
  • Cholesterol
  • Family history
  • Lifestyle factors – eating, exercising, smoking, drinking, weight, age, medical history, body mass index

The Cardiac Health Check provides you with an assessment of your risks of having a heart attack or stroke in the next five years. We then make appropriate recommendations, and your GP and our nurses will develop a plan for you to reduce those risks. We also follow up to track your progress.

Gandangara Health Services also works in conjunction with Hearing Australia and conducts hearing assessments with a view to further supporting patients that require hearing assistance.

Hearing loss is when your ability to hear is reduced, making it more difficult for you to hear speech and all the other sounds in life you love. A hearing loss can be caused by many factors, but age and exposure to loud noise are the two most common causes.

The incidence of hearing loss increases as we get older. Over half the population aged between 60 and 70 have hearing loss. This increases to more than 70 per cent of those over the age of 70, and 80 per cent of those over the age of 80.

The Hearing Australia Clinic at GHS is for patients 3-25yrs old, or 50yrs and over.

Skin cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia.  Skin checks are vital to recognise and treat possible melanomas by removing abnormal moles early.

About two in three Australians will be diagnosed with some form of skin cancer before the age of 70. It is vital to have regular skin checks to catch any abnormalities early and remove them before they become cancerous. Our Skin Cancer Clinics run on Tuesdays and Fridays by appointment. Our specially trained GP perform a thorough examination of your skin using a Dematoscope. This is a non-invasive and painless examination.  If the Doctor finds anything suspicious they may take a biopsy.
