Grants and major projects

As a registered not-for-profit with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profit Commission, we are eligible for a range of grants and government funding.

National Indigenous Australians Agency ($2.148 million grant)
A grant from the National Indigenous Australians Agency is funding our First People’s Ranger Response Team, involved in caring for Country and empowering female leadership.

Aboriginal Affairs NSW ($250,000 grant)
A Community and Place Grant from Aboriginal Affairs NSW also supports the First People’s Ranger Response Team to restore and protect over 1,100 hectares of Aboriginal-owned land at Heathcote Ridge. This includes cultural burns, pest and weed management, the creation of walking tracks, waste removal and road repairs.

West Invest program
We have secured $24.3 million in NSW Government funding through the WestInvest program to deliver two transformational initiatives — designed by community, for community. This will fund our cultural connection hub and a support centre for veterans and youth.

Gandangara Cultural Connection Hub ($7.4 million grant)

On land we own in Liverpool, we are creating a landmark arts and cultural centre. The state-of-the-art facility features a curated Keeping Place for First Peoples' knowledge and artefacts.

Designed to welcome all, the Hub will feature:

  • a Living Culture and Learning Centre
  • a Keeping Place for Aboriginal knowledge and artefacts
  • interpretive gardens and rooftop native plantings
  • yarning circles and storytelling spaces
  • an art studio, a lore room and community meeting rooms
  • native rooftop gardens
  • community-run café

This unique experience will foster a deeper understanding, respect, and pride in the world’s oldest continuing culture - while strengthening connection and belonging for our people.

Gandangara First Peoples’ Support Centre for Veteran Rehabilitation and Youth Diversion ($16.9 million grant)

We are also establishing the Gandangara First Peoples’ Support Centre for Veteran Rehabilitation and Youth Diversion in the Cumberland City Council. This first-of-its-kind, culturally-led centre is supporting two vulnerable groups.

Set within restored heritage buildings, the Centre will offer:

  • veteran rehabilitation programs for ex-service Aboriginal men and women
  • youth diversion programs for young people at risk of re-offending
  • fully accessible, trauma-informed, culturally safe spaces
  • holistic case coordination, health and social supports, and vocational pathways

An opportunity to partner with purpose

We are now seeking partners to support us on the next stage of this journey  — particularly our Living Well Hub, which will expand culturally-safe mental health, social and emotional wellbeing and Alcohol and Other Drugs services for our community.
